The railways around Buenos Aires, Argentina have a wonderful variety of equipment, gauges and history. The main terminal station at Retiro is in fact three seperate stations next to each other. 1.The broad gauge Mitre station used by TBA Third Rail EMU trains. 2. The Metre gauge Belgrano station used by Ferrovias diesel hauled suburnban trains. 3. The Broad gauge San Martin station which sees arrivals and departures of diesel hauled suburban and country trains. The other main Terminal station is the Braod gauge Plaza Constitucion station which operates suburban EMU and Diesel hauled trains to Mar del Plata and elsewhere. Sit back and enjoy views of some of the trains of Buenos Aires......Don't forget to watch our Tram and Light Rail of Buenos Aires video.

Ferrosur Roca operates, as its name implies, on Argentina's Roca network to the south and west of Buenos Aires. Here, a northbound freight (that I strongly suspect to be train 494 from Bahía Blanca) led by a ubiquitous GT-22 heads for the company's Kilo 5 yard as it passes through the Linea General Roca station at Banfield. From Kilo 5, the containers will be forwarded to the port of Buenos Aires.

Two Chinese-built locomotives arrived in Argentina on Wednesday, as part of an ambitious plan to revive the South American country's aging cargo rail network and spur development. The locomotives' 2,950 horsepower (hp) doubles the drive of the current antiquated engines serving the Belgrano Cargas rail line, and can reach a maximum speed of 80 km per hour. China has been a key partner in helping to modernize Argentina's transportation infrastructure, previously delivering two locomotives for a different rail line, as well as supplying trains for the urban rail system serving the capital Buenos Aires. The locomotives arrived at the port of Buenos Aires aboard the BBC Austria, a vessel sailed from Shanghai, China. They are to be transported to Cordoba, a city in central Arg...

The Argentine Senate approved legislation on Wednesday to re-nationalize the country's railway system and boost its efficiency. Both passenger and freight service will now be in state hands according to the bill sent to the Senate last month by President Cristina Fernandez. The measure, which had almost unanimous support in the legislature, will help the country's economy as the use of rail to transport goods is more efficient and it will benefit areas outside the capital. Transport officials said the train failed to stop at the end of the line at Once Station. The train was carrying between 1,200 and 1,500 passengers and traveling at around 16mph at the time. Faulty brakes are thought to be the cause. The crash is Argentina's deadliest rail accident in more than 30 years.
The train accident occurred in the Argentinian capital in 2012 causing 51 deaths exposed the poor condition of the city's public transport system. Now and after the suburban train was nationalized, the new line inaugurated is expected to bring nearly 51 million commuters every year.

A zombie march takes place on Nov. 27 in downtown Buenos Aires, with a charity purpose for donations of food to help children in needy neighborhoods. With its charity function, Zombie Walk Argentina stands out among similar marches in other countries, while not forgetting to make fun of the pop culture. This is the 9th zombie march so far held in the capital. Its first edition attracted 70 participants, but the number jumped to 70,000 last year for the 8th edition.
